Watch that first step, it's a doozy!
I don't know about you, but I'm thinking that living on the middle floor of that house could be quite hazardous. Perhaps it took a fall from the top floor in order for someone to think, "Gee, perhaps we should put a railing in here." Obviously no one has fallen yet from the middle floor. And when they do, someone will say, "Who saw that coming? Hindsight is 20/20."

Chasing Rainbows
I like this photo a lot. The light caught this lady at just the right instant. Lucky. I have a photo from a few seconds later, she's in shadow and it doesn't work quite as well.
Now, back to work for me. Chasing rainbows... The storm is just starting to clear out, and I'm hoping Roy G. Biv shows up here by next spring!

My feet are tired... But my mouth isn't!
Lately I've been running to try to undo the damage done by hanging at my folks' house. A friend of mine asked how I could gain weight eating all those veggies from the garden. Well, there's LOTS of veggies, smothered in butter and salt. Plus there's fruit and I've been making syrup for ice cream and pies and crisps out of it! Yes, my feet are tired but my mouth is showing no signs of slowing down!!!
I often wonder about people who run. They say they love it. However, every time I go out running, I pay attention to the other runners as they pass me. They look anything but happy. In fact, most look like they're in grave pain. That doesn't look fun!!!!
Anyways, here are a few pix of where I've been running the last few days. It's a nice outting. Not too painful at all.

The Killers Killed It!
So my idea for smuggling in the camera didn't work. It's just too darn bulky and the security guy was sooooo smart! I brought the decoy camera, which he noticed, but then he asked what was in the back compartment of my purse...
Uh oh.
No one's ever noticed the back compartment before! But luckily for me, at this show they just said no professional cameras and he let me bring it in! Yay! And he knew what a "professional" camera looks like, unlike security at that hockey game a while back. I only took a few photos, but they worked out very well :)
And the Killers killed. It was a great show.
No video up yet though (Dad, I know you'll be disappointed over that).
ps. If you're ever on a date and she loves live music, getting floor tickets is the way to go. She's going to think you seem young at heart, adventurous and brave, and you're going to get in a lot of Night at the Roxbury style body contact ;)

Moon over the North Saskatchewan
Actually, it's an overlay of two pictures I took tonight, one of the river and one of the moon.

No idea what's going on?
DB says: wow .... not sure what to say about that picMichie says: haha, my friend Jen, there's not many pix where she looks normal... and you can't tell with it that small, but i look pretty wasted
DB says: oh I can tell
Michie says: you can?
DB says: very much so
Michie says: whatever dood
DB says: Look at you!!!! all pie eyed and that grin that you obviously had no idea what was going on... u look gunned .... she kinda looks like ... yeah ... no comment. lets just say ...... not one for the family album.
Oh well, I still love it. It's one of those that makes me chuckle a little every time I look at it.
Um yeah, this is another photo from that night. Nah, we weren't drinking AT ALL.

Ok I was feeling bad about Jen's pic and told her I'd put a nicer one up to counteract the effect of the "hideous" one above (as she called it)... So there it is.

The Brand New Toy
However, it was so fricken cold out on Thursday that I wasn't able to venture out to play. There's not much to photograph in my house. Hence this mess:
Not too exciting, I know. That pic of myself kills me. I look bonafide crazy! (Photographs do steal your soul after all!) Ok so I also managed a couple of outdoor pictures. At -24 degrees, these photos were snapped at lightning speed. You see, any exposed limb turns black, shrivels and falls off in mere seconds, so I had to muster up as much quick-twitch muscle stength as I could.I did catch the sunset though... First on 6x zoom, then on 12x zoom. Not bad for a first outting. Hmm, maybe I should change my ways and actually read the instructions on this thing.

Thanks ma, I'm gonna love this camera until the day I break it!!!

Hotel Des Alpes

I could not BELIEVE the view from our room!!! AND we had a balcony too! I was in heaven.

Literally in heaven... In the morning, we were even higher than the clouds.

There was a small ski hill just 3km up the mountain on a narrow winding road with no guard rails and steep drop offs that had Mom pretty scared (ok, me too at times).

On the way back down we saw some deer.
In retrospect the view was awesome, but the whole experience at the hotel was also impressive. It wasn't just the 8 good-looking Germans that rode in on their motorbikes and sat at the table next to us at dinner and breakfast either;) It was also the man who ran the place, I think his name was Leo? He was soooo nice to us! In the morning when we were checking out he said, "Vous ĂȘtes joli." I thought he was posing a question... Are you happy? and I told Mom that's what he'd asked. We responded, "Yes we are, VERY much so thanks."
It wasn't until later when I figured out that joli meant beautiful. Oops. YES. YES WE ARE. Hahaha. Good one.
I'm an idiot.
